BASECOAT/ADHESIVE

A Basecoat and Adhesive for Foam Board Insulation and Masonry Trim Products

BASECOAT/ADHESIVE is a one component, dry, polymer modified, cementitious basecoat composed of sand, cement, proprietary chemicals, and polymer modifiers. BASECOAT/ADHESIVE is used for bonding and priming foam board prior to the application of decorative finishes. BASECOAT/ADHESIVE can also be used for adhering stone, concrete, tile and masonry trim products to autoclaved aerated concrete.

Surface
Preparation All bases to receive BASECOAT/ADHESIVE must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, paint, oil, and any other foreign residue. Proper substrates include sound concrete, masonry, plaster or exterior grade gypsum sheathing. Do not use over wood substrates..

Mixing: For bonding, apply material in one line for panels up to 4 inches thick and in two lines for larger panels. For filling horizontal joints place material into chamfered joint area and smooth using a stainless steel trowel.

Application For bonding applications, apply BASECOAT/ADHESIVE with a notched trowel for smooth substrates or by ribbon and dab method for masonry applications. As a basecoat, apply with a clean plaster trowel to a minimum 1/16" thickness embedding recommended fiberglass mesh.

Precautions Ambient and surface temperatures must be higher than 40⁰F within 24 hours after application. Refer to local building codes in regard to application limitations for use.

Drying Time Thorough drying depends on temperature and humidity, and normally dries within 24 hours.

Cleaning May be cleaned with water prior to setting. Protect other surfaces from contact with coating.
