LITEWALL® SL

Lightweight Facade Coating

LITEWALL® SL is a one coat, mineral base, lightweight plaster that can be applied to autoclaved aerated concrete, concrete block, cement plasters or other concrete surfaces as a decorative coating.

Advantages LITEWALL® SL is polymer modified for increased bonding and flexibility. LITEWALL® SL includes a reinforced matrix to prevent cracking.

LITEWALL® SL is highly hydrophobic and therefore resists the passage of water through the coating and into the wall. Because it is mineral based, it is highly permeable to water vapor unlike other paints and coatings. As a result water vapor that builds up inside the wall can more easily escape to the outside.

When cured LITEWALL® SL has a similar weight and coefficient of thermal expansion to that of autoclaved aerated concrete and as a result LITEWALLâ SL will move at comparable rates under thermal stress.

LITEWALL® SL is very lightweight when compared to ordinary stucco and is much easier to use which results in higher productivity and lower labor cost.

Surface
Preparation
All bases to receive LITEWALL® SL must be clean, dry, and free of grease, oil, dirt, paint, and any foreign residues.
Mixing Mix one 55 pound bag with approximately 4 gallons of clean water for 5 minutes. Stir again after 5 minutes and add a small amount of water (1 qt.) to achieve desired workability. Always use the contents of the entire bag for best results.
Application Apply LITEWALL® SL in one pass to a minimum of 5/16 inch. Smooth the wall to achieve an even surface. Once the first pass has hardened sufficiently, apply second pass of 1/8 inch and texture using a plastic trowel. During hot or windy conditions the base may be pre-wetted for easier finishing. In areas subject to movement or over different substrate materials, such as concrete versus AAC block, imbed fiberglass mesh into the LITEWALL® SL basecoat. Refer to LITEWALL® SL drawing details for appropriate application practices.

Finishes LITEWALL® SL provides skip trowel or swirl, vertical and horizontal grooved textures. LITEWALLâ SL-F is used for a smooth sand finish. LITEWALL® SL-P provides a Pebblestone finish. LITEWALL® SL-K is used for a pitted Koralstone finish
Precautions To prevent cold joints in the finish, apply the texture coat in complete areas and schedule stops at naturally occurring breaks. To maintain an even color, apply to surfaces that have uniform dryness. Protect fresh plaster from rain. Because of differences in application and environmental conditions, it is not always possible to prevent color shading. Do not add excessive amounts of water to mix. Avoid re-tempering of mix after initial mixing. Hot weather accelerates drying and reduces working time. Cool weather retards drying time and increases working time. Do not apply if temperatures are expected to fall below 40° F within 24 hours.
Drying Time Depending on thickness and ambient conditions, drying time is 2 - 5 days.
Cleaning Clean tools with water. Protect glass, metal, stone, brick, and other area from contact with plaster.
Coloring LITEWALL® SL is available in pre-colored blends to obtain an integrally colored coating. To guarantee uniformity of color, the finished surface must be painted. One coat of EQUICOAT may be used over pre-colored LITEWALL® SL. to equalize the surface appearance. For coloring, two coats of EQUICOAT may be necessary over white LITEWALL® SL.
